The storm made landfall around midnight, impacting areas between Bhitarkanika in Kendrapara district and Dhamra in Bhadrak. The severe cyclonic storm Dana completed its landfall process on Friday morning, taking approximately eight and a half hours to enter the landmass, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). As a result of the cyclone, flight operations in both Bhubaneswar and Kolkata were disrupted but services resumed once the landfall was completed.
In Bhubaneswar, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi conducted a review of the situation following the cyclone. There were no significant reports of damage or casualties from the storm. The restoration efforts have already begun in some affected areas.
In preparation for the cyclone, the Odisha government had evacuated about 5.8 lakh individuals from vulnerable regions. They also deployed 385 rescue teams, including National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) units, Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) teams and personnel from Fire Services and the Forest Department.
