The Ministry of Education has begun accepting applications for Director roles at various Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs) set up under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. These positions are available at IIIT campuses across Nagpur, Sri City (Chittoor), Kota, Lucknow, Kottayam, Tiruchirappalli and Guwahati.
The selected directors will serve as both the academic and administrative head of the designated IIIT campus, demonstrating exceptional expertise in leadership, management, education and research.
Candidates interested in applying can do so online through the application form found at education.gov.in and nitcouncil.org.in. The online application period will begin on November 4 and will conclude on December 3, 2024, at 11:59 PM.
Educational Qualification:
Applicants must possess a PhD in a relevant discipline, along with an outstanding academic track record and a minimum of seven years of experience serving as a professor in an accredited educational institution. However, this experience requirement may be waived for exceptionally qualified candidates. It is also preferable that applicants be no older than 60 years.
Documents Required:
Candidates are required to submit copies of their Bachelor, Masters and PhD degrees, along with a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their current employer, formatted as specified, before the application deadline. It is essential to verify that all provided information is accurate and comprehensive, as once submitted, applications cannot be modified or re-sent. Applications that are incomplete or do not include the necessary documentation will be automatically disqualified.
Selection Process:
These IIITs are independent institutions supported through collaborative funding from the Central Government, state governments and industry partners. The selection of the Director will be based on recommendations from a Search-cum-Selection Committee, which will evaluate both applications submitted in response to this advertisement and nominations from distinguished individuals. The appointment will be made on a contractual basis for five years or until the candidate turns 70, whichever occurs first.
Salary Details:
The role comes with a predetermined monthly salary of Rs 2,10,000 in line with the 7th Pay Commission guidelines, in addition to a Special Allowance of Rs 11,250. Other eligible allowances will also be provided according to the regulations set by the Institute.
